Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons announced on Instagram that he is shutting his eponymous label after twenty-seven years in business. The heartfelt post revealed that spring 2023 was the fashion brand’s final season, “The Spring Summer 2023 collection is the conclusion of an extraordinary 27 year journey and the final season of the Raf Simons fashion brand. I lack the words to share how proud I am of all that we have achieved. I am grateful for the incredible support from my team, from my collaborators, from the press and buyers, from my friends and family, and from our devoted fans and loyal followers. Thank you all, for believing in our vision and for believing in me.” At the top of his post, he included ‘Memory Wear 1995’, the year his label debuted, and the names of his parents, Alda and Jacques.

Raf Simons, founder of the eponymous label, is considered one of the most influential designers in the fashion industry and has worked as a creative director at Christian Dior between 2012 and 2015 and both Artistic and Creative Director at Calvin Klein from 2015 to 2018. His body of work has won him both the womenswear and menswear Designer of the Year Award for Calvin Klein at the CFDA Fashion Awards 2017;  Designer of the year from the British Fashion Council the same year, and Womenswear Designer of the Year for Calvin Klein at the CFDA Fashion Awards 2018.
