BIOGRAPHY
Born on September 12, 1997, in Spokane, Washington, Sydney Sweeney grew up in Idaho, with maths as her favourite subject. Her mother is a former criminal defence lawyer and her father is part of the hospitality industry. Developing a passion for acting at a young age and with no drama lessons at Saint Georges School, Sweeney begged her parents to let her audition for an indie film that was being shot in her hometown. She then put together a five-year business-plan presentation of her career and by the age of thirteen, she moved to LA with her family to pursue the dream.
Sweeney first pursued theatre, participating in local productions before securing her first role in television. She debuted on television in 2009 with a small part in an episode of Heroes. She played supporting roles in television shows such as 90210, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars. In 2018, she starred as Emaline Addario in Everything Sucks! and then appeared in Sharp Objects. She had a recurring role in the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale.
However, it was her breakout role as Cassie Howard in Euphoria (2019) that brought her global recognition.
