Armik Aghakhani Building Trust Beyond Business

In finance, people often talk about growth, strategy, and numbers. Armik Aghakhani talks about responsibility.

That mindset shaped both his career and the way he approaches community work. As Managing Partner of Chartered International LLP in Beverly Hills, Armik built his reputation in a field where details matter and trust is difficult to earn back once lost.

But over time, his focus expanded beyond business operations and client work. Today, much of his attention is directed toward long-term charitable efforts involving children, autism support, youth development, churches, women in aviation, and community programmes.

“Success means more when it helps somebody else move forward,” he says. “Otherwise it stays too small.”

Early Career Lessons That Shaped His Leadership Style

Armik grew up in Los Angeles and was drawn early to systems, structure, and problem-solving.

“I liked understanding how things connected,” he says. “Accounting made sense to me because every decision affects something else.”

He studied at UCLA and later attended Washington School of Law. That combination shaped how he approached business. Technical skill mattered, but context mattered just as much.

Early in his career, he worked at firms including PwC and Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman. The work exposed him to complex financial situations, tight deadlines, and high expectations.

“You learn quickly in those environments,” he says. “You also learn how fast small problems can grow if people stop paying attention.”

One late-night review became a defining lesson. A file that looked complete had a small mismatch hidden deep in the records.

“It seemed minor at first,” he recalls. “But if it had gone unnoticed, it would have become a much larger issue months later.”

That experience shaped his approach to leadership and operations. Slow down at the important moments. Review assumptions. Encourage people to speak up early.

Building Chartered International LLP With a Long-Term Mindset

When Armik launched Chartered International LLP, he was not focused on rapid expansion.

“I was more interested in stability than speed,” he says.

The firm grew steadily by working with individuals, families, and businesses that needed consistent oversight and clear communication. Many clients had layered situations involving multiple entities or international matters.

“Complexity itself isn’t the problem,” he explains. “The problem is when nobody steps back to look at the whole picture.”

That idea became part of the firm’s culture. Clarity mattered. Communication mattered. Preparation mattered.

“If someone leaves confused, we haven’t done our job properly,” he says.

Over time, the firm developed a reputation for careful review, discretion, and long-term relationships. Armik believes those qualities matter more than flashy growth.

“People remember whether you stayed calm and organised when things got difficult,” he says. “That’s what builds trust.”

Why Community Work Became Central to His Focus

As his career progressed, Armik became more involved in charitable causes that reflected his values and personal experiences.

One major focus has been autism support. He contributed to the development of a sensory classroom for children with autism at a local Armenian school. The room was designed to help students who struggled in traditional learning environments.

“When I visited the classroom after it opened, the difference was obvious,” he says. “Kids who usually felt overwhelmed were sitting comfortably and focusing.”

According to the CDC, 1 in 36 children in the United States is diagnosed with autism. Inclusive educational spaces remain limited in many communities.

“That project showed me how practical support can change daily life for families,” he says.

Supporting Youth Through Structure and Mentorship

Armik also supports ACOP Youth and ACOP’s Motor Sports Ministry initiative, “Race for a Cause.”

The programme combines fundraising with structured youth activities focused on responsibility and discipline.

“Young people respond well when expectations are clear,” he says. “They want structure more than people realise.”

The initiative gives participants a controlled environment where they learn safety, teamwork, and accountability while supporting community causes.

One organiser told him that several students who struggled with confidence became leaders within the programme over time.

“That stuck with me,” Armik says. “Small opportunities can completely change how young people see themselves.”

Expanding Access Through Women in Aviation International

Another organisation he supports is Women in Aviation International, a cause that carries personal meaning because his wife is a pilot.

Women make up less than 10 percent of pilots worldwide. Armik believes access and visibility play a major role in that imbalance.

“When young women meet pilots who look like them, the career starts to feel possible,” he says.

His support focuses on expanding opportunities and visibility for women entering aviation careers.

“Talent is everywhere,” he says. “Access isn’t.”

A Leadership Style Built on Consistency

People who work with Armik often describe him as steady rather than flashy. He prefers systems over slogans and preparation over reaction.

Inside the firm, he encourages direct communication and early problem-solving.

“I tell my team that bad news doesn’t improve with time,” he says. “If something looks wrong, bring it up immediately.”

That approach carries into his community involvement as well. He prefers long-term support over one-time gestures.

“The impact comes from staying involved,” he says. “Not from showing up once.”

Looking Ahead

Finance continues to evolve. Regulations shift. Expectations rise. Technology changes how businesses operate.

Armik remains focused on fundamentals.

“Trends change,” he says. “Responsibility doesn’t.”

Looking back, he sees a connection between the ideas that shaped his career and the causes he supports today.

Pay attention early. Build systems that last. Stay consistent. Support people in practical ways.

“At the end of the day,” he says, “the best work keeps helping people long after you leave the room.”
