Daniel Roseberry is the Artistic Director of Schiaparelli, the historic Paris couture house. Appointed in 2019, he has been credited with revitalising the the near-century-old couture house through bold collections that merge surrealism with contemporary craftsmanship. His work draws inspiration from the legacy of Elsa Schiaparelli while introducing modern artistic narratives, making him one of the most influential creative leaders in global fashion today.

Daniel Roseberry is the Artistic Director of Schiaparelli, the historic Paris couture house.
Daniel Roseberry was born in 1985 in Dallas, Texas, United States. The son of a priest and an artist, he and his three siblings were raised in a religious household, and he even considered entering the ministry himself; after high school, he travelled the world on Christian service missions to Hawaii, Jordan, Pakistan, and Israel. Upon returning to the United States, he developed an interest in fashion and moved to New York to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
Roseberry left FIT after two years to begin working at Thom Browne, the New York-based fashion house known for its conceptual tailoring and theatrical runway presentations. He worked at Thom Browne for a decade, rising to the position of Design Director of both menswear and womenswear. Working closely with Browne allowed him to learn how to construct narrative-based collections by combining traditional tailoring with expressive silhouettes. This period built the technical and conceptual foundation that he would later take to Paris.
In April 2019, Roseberry was appointed Artistic Director of Schiaparelli following Bertrand Guyon’s departure. The appointment was notable because he became the first American to lead the house. Per BoF: “The designer debuted his first collection for the house for the Autumn/Winter 2019 couture season, despite never working in a couture atelier before. Notably, he also does not speak French but instead, another member of the atelier translates his instructions.”
Since joining Schiaparelli, Daniel Roseberry has reimagined the legacy of Elsa Schiaparelli, and praised for resurrecting some of the Maison’s most influential codes and iconography; at the same time, he has subverted many of those codes, contributing a new aesthetic vocabulary with his frequent use of gold jewellery and hardware, repurposed denim, moulded leather and metal breast plates. Like Schiaparelli herself, who was known for her technical innovations, Roseberry is particularly interested in experimenting with new fabrics, and exploding the idea of what couture can-or should-be.
“His visionary and instantly recognizable designs—bold, sculptural, and surreal— have captivated the fashion world, making our house a favorite among A-list celebrities and red carpet events worldwide” says Delphine Bellini, CEO of Schiaparelli. Roseberry’s collections integrate Haute Couture with the Maison’s signature gold and surreal aesthetic, combining luxurious craftsmanship with artful innovation.
Daniel Roseberry collaborated with skilled artisans, jewellery makers, and embroidery houses to create sculptural garments. His designs began to appear frequently on red carpets, worn by public figures such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Michelle Yeoh. For fall 2025 couture, Daniel Roseberry dedicated the collection to ‘the balance of Paris and New York, during a year of peak elegance, the beginning of the modern era of war, and when life and art was on the precipice’ per CFDA.
“Conceived entirely in black-and-white, I wanted the collection to ask whether we can blur the line between past and future: if I deprived these pieces of color, or any notion of modernity, if I focused obsessively on the past, could I actually make a collection that looks as if it was born in the future?” Roseberry explained in his collection notes. “I’m proposing a world without screens, without AI, without technology—an old world, yes, but a post-future one as well. Maybe they’re one and the same. If last season was about making something baroque look modern, this season is about inverting archives to make them look futuristic.”
Today, Daniel Roseberry continues to serve as Artistic Director of Schiaparelli, overseeing both haute couture and ready-to-wear. His work is widely regarded for re-establishing the house identity as a creative force rooted in artistic experimentation, craftsmanship, and the legacy of surrealism.
Daniel Roseberry was honoured with the International Designer of the Year Award at the 2024 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards. This accolade, one of the most coveted in the fashion industry, celebrates his impact on global fashion and his body of work at the helm of the Parisian maison. His contributions are viewed as influential in shaping current trends in couture and creative direction.
