Norman Tan Appointed Editor-in-Chief For Vogue Singapore

Condé Nast announced the appointment of Norman Tan as Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Singapore. Likewise, the 27th edition of the global fashion authority will launch in Autumn this year, in partnership with Indochine Media.

Tan joins Vogue Singapore from Esquire Singapore, where he held the role of Editor-in-Chief for over two years. He successfully launched Buro Singapore in 2015, now bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in both luxury print and digital publishing. Tan graduated from The University of Melbourne with a double degree in commerce and law.

“It is a privilege to be appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Singapore and to have the opportunity to launch this iconic title alongside a talented and passionate team that is ready to push boundaries,” says Tan. “In these unprecedented times, the power of Vogue to shine a light on the critical issues of our day, and to lead the conversation on how fashion can drive positive change, is even more important. Vogue Singapore will champion the Southeast Asia region, inspire readers with striking fashion imagery, and engage the community through thought-provoking journalism across multiple platforms. I look forward to being a part of the Vogue family and sharing the same Vogue Values as my future colleagues do.”

“Norman has a winning combination of refined taste, creativity and discipline. His Esquire was one of the best in the world and I still keep his April 2019 issue on Artificial Intelligence on my desk as an example of an outside-the-box approach on publishing in the modern media landscape. This is an attribute to what we look for in our Vogue editors, where our job is to surprise and inspire our readers with everything we do – especially under the current challenging and ever-changing reality. I have no doubt that Norman will excel in doing so,” commented Karina Dobvrotvorskaya, Executive Director, Editorial Development at Condé Nast.

Joining Tan’s team is Bettina von Schlippe, who comes onboard as Publisher of Vogue Singapore. Her award-winning background in communications, media relations and event management includes working with companies such as Condé Nast Russia and advertising agency BBDO. In 2003, von Schlippe founded her own PR and lifestyle agency R.S.V.P., where she managed luxury portfolios including Chanel, Cartier, L’Oréal and Salone del Mobile amongst many others. She was also the publisher of Buro Singapore for five years.

“We are delighted to welcome Norman as Editor-in-Chief. His rich expertise in journalism and publishing makes us confident that he will present a new and exciting vision for the title, while upholding the values of the brand,” says von Schlippe.

The Singapore edition of Vogue aims to establish itself as the most prominent and influential guide to fashion, with a mission to innovatively create impactful images and intelligent stories to inspire and empower. It will feature local and international content through its own unique identity as a bold, modern and sophisticated edition of the brand. Vogue Singapore will launch with an English-language print issue, a website and will have a presence on all relevant social platforms.

Vogue Singapore is the 27th edition of the brand worldwide. Vogue is published in Australia, Brazil, China, Czech Republic and Slovakia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico & Latin America, the Middle East, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the U.K., Ukraine and the U.S.
