Halfdays, a women-led outdoor apparel brand, has secured $10 million in a Series A funding round. A significant step by the brand in its endeavour to lead the skiwear industry, the investment was led by Kellwood Company with participation from Dick’s Sporting Goods Ventures and Taylor Hill.

Halfdays
Founded in 2020 by Ariana Ferwerda, Karelle Golda and former Olympic skier Kiley McKinnon, ‘Halfdays’ was established to address the need-gap of stylish and functional skiwear for women. After competing at the 2018 Winter Olympics, co-founder Kiley McKinnon had enough of the ‘unisex’ fits primarily meant for men. Frustrated by the lack of gear designed women, Kiley got together with co-founders Ariana and Karelle to provide women with stylish, functional and cost-effective ski apparel. Per the official website: “It’s why we design technical products that can compete at the highest level of the sport, but can be worn by every level of skier: because everyone (!) deserves to own the mountain.”
Based in Colorado, the brand offers performance-driven, stylish collections like colourful outerwear and base layers at accessible price points—around $500 for a jacket and $300 for snow pants. Constructed from recycled, technical materials, the collections are made to last and crafted from the ground up for women. “Today marks our sixth winter collection at Halfdays — which feels absolutely insane to say,” co-founder and CEO Ariana Ferwerda posted on LinkedIn a few hours back. “Six years of designing for women who care as much about color palettes as carving turns. From day one, our goal has been simple: to bring more women to the mountains, and make them feel good in what they’re wearing.”
This funding will enable Halfdays to expand its product line beyond skiwear into year-round activewear, including hiking gear and indoor workout apparel like leggings, fleece and sports bras. Their product development approach — focused on creating activewear and athletic wear for women — will be carried over into the rest of the mix. This strategic move aims to cater to the diverse needs of their customers throughout the year. In addition to product expansion, Halfdays plans to increase its presence in wholesale retail locations.
The funding will also support the growth of Halfdays’ community ambassador program, which has been instrumental in building brand loyalty and engagement. This program allows enthusiasts to host local meet-ups and receive gear and commissions, fostering a strong community around the brand. Investing in brick-and-mortar stores may be on the horizon.

Halfdays
Per BoF: “In the past five years, Halfdays notched wholesale partnerships with Dick’s Sporting Goods, REI and Nordstrom and a collaboration with the beauty brand Ilia. Its growth has also been propelled by its ambassador programme across various US cities, where fans of the brand can apply to host local hiking, skiing and walk-club meet-ups while receiving gear and a commission on sales. The brand anticipates it will reach $25 million in total revenue by October 2026.”
Halfdays has demonstrated resilience and adaptability, strategically adjusting its pricing and diversifying its production to maintain its commitment to quality and affordability. With the backing of prominent investors and a clear vision for growth, it is now poised to make an impact in the outdoor apparel industry stylish, functional and accessible skiwear and activewear for women. The Olympian-founded brand is available in key retailers including Nordstrom, REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Sporting Life, and is the first brand to take a women-first approach to technical ski wear.
