HISTORY

Paloma Wool was established in 2014 by Paloma Lanna, a business graduate from Barcelona. Drawing inspiration from her upbringing in the fashion industry—her parents founded the clothing brand Nice Things—Lanna sought to create a brand that merged fashion with art and photography. The inaugural collection featured 15 numbered sweatshirts adorned with analogue photographs from Lanna’s travels, alongside simple dresses and separates. This approach resonated with the Instagram community, propelling the brand into the spotlight.

In the subsequent years, Paloma Wool expanded its offerings, incorporating bold prints, bright colours, and collaborations with local artists. The brand’s aesthetic evolved, embracing minimalist designs and diverse colour palettes. A standout piece is the Leandra shirt, a white button-up featuring line drawings of women. By 2019, Paloma Wool began hosting pop-up shops in major cities worldwide, including New York, Milan, and Seoul. The brand’s first catwalk show was held in Barcelona in March 2022, outside the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art, in collaboration with artist Carlota Guerrero on the creative direction. That year, Paloma Wool unveiled a new design direction, focusing on subtle patterns and elevated silhouettes. This shift was evident in the autumn/winter 2022 collection, which showcased grunge and minimalist influences. For Spring 2023, Paloma Wool took its runway show to Paris Fashion Week, and its immersive performance made headlines.
