Linda Jarvin, a native Swede with extensive European and U.S. experience, has dedicated her career to enhancing higher education, particularly in cognitive psychology and learning interventions. As President of Paris College of Art, she leads with a commitment to pluri-disciplinarity, diversity, and the transformative power of art and design in society.

PROFILE

Dr. Jarvin earned her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Université Paris V René Descartes (now part of Sorbonne University) in 1999. She furthered her expertise with postdoctoral training at Yale University in 2000. Her academic journey includes faculty positions at Yale University’s Department of Psychology (1999–2006), School of Medicine (2006–2008), and Tufts University’s Department of Education (2006–2011). Since 2011, she was an adjunct professor at Tufts University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and now puts this dual European and U.S. experience to use for the Paris College of Art international community.

Beyond her roles in academia, Dr. Jarvin has extensive experience in higher education management, curriculum development, and program evaluation. She has been actively involved in health and education projects in sub-Saharan Africa for over two decades, contributing to the development of new Master’s programs in the region. Her research focuses on the assessment, development, and evaluation of human achievement across various fields, including the arts and traditional academic domains. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and books, contributing significantly to the field of cognitive psychology and education.

Recognized as a leader in the field, Linda Jarvin has served as a consultant to elite preparatory schools (e.g., Choate Rosemary Hall) and universities (e.g., MIT) on issues of learning, assessment and admissions. In her eight years as Dean, Jarvin worked alongside Paris College of Art’s academic and administrative teams to improve facilities, secure re-accreditation, develop new undergraduate majors, and launch Paris College of Art’s graduate school, the latter under the leadership of Associate Dean Klaus Fruchtnis. As of July 15, 2019 Linda serves as President of Paris College of Art.
