Lauren Santo Domingo is an American fashion entrepreneur and co-founder of luxury e-tailer Moda Operandi., where she helped pioneer the “pre-order from runway” model. In addition to her work in fashion commerce, she is a contributing editor at Vogue and as of recent years, has served as Creative Director for Tiffany Home.

BIOGRAPHY

Lauren Davis was born on 28 February 1976 in Greenwich, Connecticut, United States. Her father, Ronald V. Davis, served as CEO of the Perrier Group of America and her mother, Judy Davis, is an artist. She attended the Kent School in Connecticut and enrolled at the University of Southern California, where she graduated in 1998 with a degree in history.

Santo Domingo began her career in fashion working as an assistant at American Vogue. She then became PR director for Paris-based furrier J. Mendel, where she helped launch the luxury brand’s ready-to-wear line and served as lead of the PR department of Carolina Herrera for the Puig Group. Following this experience, returned to Vogue in 2005 as managing editor and then contributing editor. She then joined Tiffany as Artistic Director in 2022. “Tiffany & Co. has played a key role in some of the biggest milestones in my life. Like everyone, I have been watching Alexandre breathe new life into the brand and it is an honor to work with Tiffany’s to help execute his creative vision,” Santo Domingo said.

In 2010, Santo Domingo co-founded luxury e-tailer Moda Operandi in collaboration with former Gilt Groupe executive Aslaug Magnusdottir. Per BoF: “The innovative site allows avid shoppers to pre-order a select edit of catwalk looks directly after they are presented during fashion week through a series of online trunk shows, turning a six-month wait into a “buy-now” experience…

“…When in 2017, the company raised $165 million in growth capital from US venture capital firms, C Ventures, K11 and Apax Digital, Moda Operandi expanded its global luxury stronghold into menswear, in line with Spring/Summer 2018 Milan and Paris Fashion week. Further securing almost $300 million in successive funding rounds, it boasts a line-up of over 50 brands.”

Moda Operandi announced expansion plans into the Chinese market, following the appointment of Ganesh Srivats as the CEO. In 2019, the data-driven retail company expanded its product range to include jewellery and home supplies.

An active philanthropist, Santo Domingo chairs charitable events such as the Frick’s Young Fellows Ball and is on the committee for New Yorkers Children Gala. Santo Domingo has also supported the Save Venice charity and is co-chair of the Met Gala. She has notably donated to democratic political candidates Hillary Clinton, Joe Kennedy and Kamala Harris. PS she has also served as a muse for designers such as Proenza Schouler, Nina Ricci, and Eddie Borgo!!

Lauren Santo Domingo has earned a reputation as one of fashion’s most stylish figures. She was inducted into Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 2017. She had earlier been included in that list in prior years and has frequently appeared on best-dressed lists across major fashion and society publications.  She has often been described as one of the leading tastemakers and style authorities of her generation. The Business of Fashion listed her among the BoF 500, recognising her influence at the intersection of fashion, commerce and media.  Moreover, her entrepreneurial achievement with Moda Operandi has been recognised by the industry and media alike. The platform’s disruptive model—enabled by her vision—has generated extensive media coverage and acclaim in the fashion and luxury sectors.
