Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology  is a university in Beijing, China. The school educates 7150 students including 6017 undergraduate students, 481 postgraduate students and 59 foreign students, coming from China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan. There are also students of other nationalities. This institute is composed of 5 schools (clothing design and engineering school, polymer materials and engineering school,art design school,business school,industry design and information technology school) and 2 departments(foreign language and painting).

History

Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) was founded in February 1959 with the original name as Beijing Institute of Textile Technology. In 1961, it was renamed Beijing Institute of Chemical Fiber Engineering, which was a key academic institution specializing in chemical fiber research and education affiliated to the Ministry of Textiles. The name is changed in February 1987 into Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology after the school’s restructuring and expansion. BIFT is the first specialist institute for fashion design and engineering in China.
